I teach fully online, hybrid, and on-ground courses, but distance education is my area of expertise as I have over five years of online teaching experience and a vested interest in distance education research. As part of my PhD studies, I worked as Assistant Director of the Writing Center under Kevin Depew and my primary task was the usability study, testing, and implementation of fully synchronous online tutoring using Adobe Connect. My dissertation follows along these same lines as I explore this process from the perspectives of several different institutions in hopes of designing a heuristic to guide others in their quest for deploying fully online synchronous tutoring solutions.
